Relevance to proton-induced nucleosynthesis in the CNO cycles and the rp process.

Search for in-band transitions in the candidate superdeformed band in 28Si

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 28Si(α, α'), E=130 MeV beam from K140 AVF cyclotron at the RCNP-Osaka; measured Eα, Iα using the Grand Raiden spectrometer, Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin using CAGRA array of 12 HPGe clover detectors and four LaBr3 detectors. 28Si; deduced levels, J, π, bands; analyzed 4+ member in search of a superdeformed (SD) band, branching ratios of γ rays from the 4+ member, and B(E2); based on comparison of experimental B(E2) values with predicted B(E2) values from antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) calculations for a set of identified states in 28Si, strongly rejected hypothesized superdeformed band in this nuclide.

Reexamination of isoscalar giant resonances in 12C and 93Nb through 6Li scattering

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C, 93Nb(6Li, 6Li'), E=100 MeV/nucleon; measured 6Li spectra, double-differential σ, and angular distributions for the isoscalar giant monopole resonances (ISGMRs) using the high-resolution Grand Raiden magnetic spectrometer at the RCNP-Osaka facility; deduced contribution of different angular momentum transfers to differential σ, energies, widths and E0 strength distribution of GMRs, EWSR, influence on GMRs due to nuclear structure. Angular distribution data fitted using multipole-decomposition analysis (MDA) and DWBA methods. Comparison with antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) calculations, and with previous experimental data.

Levels compared with published data. 18F(p, α), E(cm)=0-1 MeV; calculated astrophysical S-factor with different interference signs between L=0 states with possibility of changing temperatures (50-350 MK); deduced resonance parameters (energy, (α- and p-width, ANC)). S-factor compared with other calculations.

High-resolution 96Zr(3He, t) experiment and the matrix element for double-β decay

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 90,92,96Zr(3He, t), E=420 MeV; measured triton spectra, σ(θ) using Grand Raiden spectrometer at RCNP facility. 90,92,96Nb; deduced levels, IAS, L-transfers, J, π, B(GT), nuclear matrix element for 2νββ decay of 96Zr. 91,94Zr(3He, t), E=420 MeV; measured triton spectrum; deduced IAS in 91,94Nb. Comparison with shell model calculations, and with previous study of 96Mo(d, 2He)96Nb reaction.

The 150Nd(3He, t) and 150Sm(t, 3He) reactions with applications to ββ decay of 150Nd

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 150Nd(3He, t), E=140 MeV/nucleon; 150Sm(t, 3He), E=115 MeV/nucleon; measured triton and 3He spectra, excitation energy spectra, differential cross sections, σ(θ) 150Pm; deduced B(GT) strengths; isovector spin-flip giant monopole resonance (IVSGMR). Grand Raiden Spectrometer for (3He, t) and S-800 spectrometer for (t, 3He). Comparison with Quasi-Particle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA) calculations. Application to double β decay of 150Nd.

RADIOACTIVITY 150Nd(2β-); calculated matrix elements for 0νββ and 2νββ decay modes using QRPA calculations. Comparison with experimental data.
