Three-quasiparticle isomers in odd-even 159, 161Pm: Calling for modified spin-orbit interaction for the neutron-rich region

RADIOACTIVITY 159,161Pm(IT)[from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon, followed by separation of fission fragments using the BigRIPS in-flight separator and implantation of fragments in WAS3ABi setup at RIBF-RIKEN facility]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, half-lives of the isomers by γ(t) using the EURICA array of 12 EUROBALL clusters. 159,161Pm; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, bands, 2-quasiparticle Nilsson configurations for the isomeric states, and 3-quasiparticle configurations from theory, existence of the deformed N=98 subshell gap in odd-mass nuclei. Comparison with projected shell model (PSM) calculations. Discussed modification of strength of spin-orbit interactions in standard Nilsson parameters for neutron-rich rare-earth nuclei around A=165.

RADIOACTIVITY 106,108,110Nb, 106,108,110Zr(β-); 108,110Nb(β-n)[from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon, followed by separation of ions using BigRIPS fragment separator and transported through the ZeroDegree spectrometer at RIBF-RIKEN facility]; measured Eγ, Iγ, β-, β-γγ-coin, and half-lives of decays of 106Nb, 108Nb, 110Nb and 110Zr from β-delayed γ-decay curves, half-lives of the first 2+ states in 106Mo, 108Mo and 110Mo using WAS3ABi system for ion and β- detection, EURICA array for γ detection, and fast-timing array for level half-lives. 106,108,110Mo; deduced levels, J, π, bands, configurations, β feedings, logft, B(E2) ratios, quadrupole deformation, kinematic moment of inertia for the ground bands, staggering pattern. 108,110Nb; deduced %β-n or Pn from the β-delayed γ rays emitted from the daughter nuclei, two β-decaying states or an isomer in 110Nb. 106,108,110Nb; deduced J, π; discussed Nilsson configurations. Comparison with theoretical calculations. Systematics of E(4+)/E(first 2+) ratios in N(even)=56-72, Zr, Mo, Ru and Pd isotopes, and level energy staggering pattern relative to the first 2+ states in N=64, 66, 68 Mo, Ru, and Pd isotopes.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 106,108,110Mo; calculated levels, J, π, potential-energy surface (PES) contours and the collective-wave functions for low-lying positive-parity states. Comparison with beyond-meanfield calculations using the constrained Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov and local quasiparticle-random-phase approximation with SLy5+T interaction. Comparison of level structure with phenomenological shell model using SR88MHJM interaction, and β+p decay with semi-empirical proton emission theory by Delion, Liotta, and Wyss 2006.

RADIOACTIVITY 70Br(β+), (EC) [from 9Be(78Kr, X), E=345 MeV/nucleon at RIKEN's RILAC2-RRC-fRC-IRC-SRC acceleration system using BigRIPS separator and ZeroDegree spectrometer]; measured reaction products, Eγ, Iγ, Eβ, half-life of the 9+ isomer by βγ(t), and 0+ ground state by (70Br)β(t), γγ-, and βγ-coin using Wide-Range Active Silicon Strip Stopper array for β and ion detection (WAS3ABi), and EURICA array for γ detection. 70Se; deduced levels, J, π, β feedings, logf Ft, bands, Ft value for the superallowed decay of 70Br. Comparison with Shell-model calculations using the PMMU and JUN45 interactions. Discussed test of the CVC hypothesis using the data in the present work.

Superallowed Gamow-Teller decay of the doubly magic nucleus 100Sn

RADIOACTIVITY 100Sn(β+), (EC) [from Be(124Xe, X)100Sn, E = 1 GeV/nucleon]; measured decay products, Eγ, Iγ, Eβ, Iβ. 100In; deduced T1/2, log ft, Gamow-Teller strength, energy levels, J, π, distribution of positron energies. Comparison with available data, large scale shell model calculations.
