α-unbound levels in 34Ar from 36Ar(p, t)34Ar reaction measurements and implications for the astrophysical 30S (α, p)33Cl reaction rate

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 36Ar(p, t), E=100 MeV; measured triton spectra, σ(θ) using Grand Raiden spectrograph at RCNP, Osaka. 34Ar; deduced levels, α-unbound states; calculated single proton widths, spin distributions for selected excitation energies, and α-spectroscopic factors using back-shifted Fermi gas (BSFG) model and shell model calculations. Comparison of 34Ar levels in several previous experiments. 30S(α, p)33Cl, T9=0.10-3.0; calculated astrophysical reaction rates at temperatures relevant to x-ray bursts (XRB) using a Monte Carlo approach within a narrow-resonance formalism. Comparison of reaction rates with two standard Hauser-Feshbach model predictions.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be, 12C, 27Al(8Li, X), E=30-110 MeV, [8Li secondary beam produced in 9Be(13C, X), E=130 MeV/nucleon primary reaction]; measured reaction products, reaction σ(E) at HIMAC synchrotron and fragment-separator facility of NIRS, Japan; deduced density distributions of 8B and 8Li using modified Glauber model, halo structure of 8B. 7Li(n, γ)8Li, E=0.01 eV-1 MeV; 7Be(p, γ)8B, E=0-0.5 MeV; calculated capture σ(E) for (n, γ) and S(E) factor for (p, γ) reactions using density distributions determined in present work, comparison with experimental data.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H, 9Be, 12C, 27Al(8Li, 8Li'), E=30-110 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 8Li beam from 9Be(13C, X), E=130 MeV/nucleon primary reaction]; measured particle spectra by Bρ-ΔE-TOF technique, reaction σ(E) at HIMAC synchrotron and NIRS fragment-separator facility in Japan. 8Li; deduced density distribution, matter radius, tendency for 8Li as a skin nucleus. Modified Glauber model analysis of experimental data. Comparison with previous experimental results and with calculations based on harmonic oscillator (HO)+Yukawa and HO+single-particle model (SPM) functions.
