Gamow-Teller transitions in the A=40 isoquintet of relevance for neutrino captures in 40Ar

Main focus on 1+ states at 2290 and 2730 keV. Comparison with shell-model calculations in the sd-pf shell with a new interaction (WBMB-C) to study differences between structure of transitions from 40Ar and 40Ti. Discussed ratio of the cross sections for low-lying 1+ states populated in 40Ar(p, n) and 40Ar(3He, t) reactions. Relevance of 40Ar in the use of liquid argon as a medium for neutrino detection.
