Triaxiality and the nature of low-energy excitations in 76Ge

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(76Ge, 76Ge'), E=291, 304, 317 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (76Ge)γ-coin using the GRETINA array with 28 Ge crystals in one experiment at 304-MeV beam energy, and 42 Ge crystals in a second experiment at 291- and 317-MeV beam energies, both in coincidence with scattered particles detected by using the CHICO2 array of position-sensitive parallel plate avalanche counters at the ATLAS-ANL facility. 76Ge; deduced levels, Jπ, γ-ray and Coulomb excitation yields analyzed by using the semiclassical, coupled-channel, Coulomb excitation least-squares code GOSIA, constrained by certain previouly known experimental nuclear structure parameters, E2, M1, E1 and E3 matrix elements, B(E2), B(M1), B(E1) and B(E3), spectroscopic quadrupole moments for five excited states, and evidence for rigid triaxial deformation at low excitation energies in 76Ge, and magnitudes of the quadrupole invariants Q+2, and expectation values of the quadrupole asymmetry parameters cos(3γ) for the members of the ground-state and the γ bands. Comparison with configuration interaction shell-model calculations and generalized triaxial rotor model, and with previous experimental data.

β decay of 36Mg and 36Al: Identification of a β-decaying isomer in 36Al

RADIOACTIVITY 36Mg, 36Al(β-)[from 9Be(48Ca, X), E=140 MeV/nucleon for experiment at NSCL and 9Be(48Ca, X), E=172.3 MeV/nucleon for experiment at FRIB]; 36Al, 36mAl(β-)[from 36Mg(β-); measured Eγ, Iγ; deduced T1/2. 36Al; deduced levels, J, π, newly-observed β-decaying isomer, T1/2 of the isomer. 36Si; deduced levels, J, π. Comparison to shell model calculations performed with the FSU interaction using code CoSMo. For experiment at NSCL - CeBr3 based implantation detector with position-sensitive photomultiplier tube was surrounded by 16 segmented germanium detectors (SeGa) and 15 LaBr3 detectors. For experiment at FRIB - YSO scintillator based implantation detector segmented into 48x48 pixels was surrounded by 11 HPGe clover detectors and LaBr3 detectors from one side and the neutron detector array VANDLE from the other side.

Experimental data on rotational band is compared to the calculations made within configuration-fixed constrained covariant density functional theory (CDFT) and the quantum particle rotor model (PRM) formalism. Systematics for superderformed bands in 60Zn, 66Zn, 68Zn, 68Ge. Gammasphere array with 101 detectors in conjunction with the fragment mass analyzer (FMA) and a microchannel plate (MCP) detector at ATLAS accelerator (ANL).

Observed octupole core excitations built on a five-nucleon hole configuration. Comparison with shell-model calculations employing the KHH7B effective interaction. Gammasphere array with 100 detectors at ATLAS accelerator (ANL).

Discovery of the new isotope 251Lr: Impact of the hexacontetrapole deformation on single-proton orbital energies near the Z=100 deformed shell gap

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 203Tl(50Ti, 2n)251Lr, 205Tl(50Ti, 2n)253Lr, E=237 MeV; measured reaction products, α-decay of the reaction products, Eα, Iα. 251,253Lr; deduced levels J, π, α-decay width. 251,253,255Lr; calculated single-proton levels near the Fermi surface. Calculations with particle-number conserving cranked shell model. Beam delivered to target by ATLAS linear accelerator and recoiling reaction products were separated in the Argonne Gas-Filled Analyzer (AGFA) at (ANL). Decay of the implanted reaction products was measured in pixelized double-sided Si strip detector (DSSD).

RADIOACTIVITY 251,253Lr(α)[from 203,205Tl(50Ti, 2n), E=237 MeV]; measured Eα, Iα; deduced T1/2, Q-value, α-decay branchings and widths. Comparison to other experimental data. and predictions of theoretical models.

Multistep safe Coulomb-excitation. 64Ni; deduced levels, J, π, E2 matrix elements using GOSIA least-squares fitting code, B(E2), spectroscopic electric quadrupole moments, evidence for triple shape coexistence. Comparison with previous experimental results, and with Monte Carlo shell-model (MCSM), and conventional shell-model calculations.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 64Ni; calculated levels, J, π, B(E2), spectroscopic quadrupole moments, proton and neutron orbital occupancies for 2+ and 0+ states using Monte Carlo shell-model (MCSM), and conventional shell-model calculations with the jj44 and fp effective interactions. Comparison with experimental data.

Comparison with earlier experimental results.

ATOMIC MASSES 106Nb; measured cyclotron frequency using the Phase-Imaging Ion-Cyclotron-Resonance (PI-ICR) technique, CPT spectra; deduced mass excess. Comparison with previous measurement, and with AME 2016 evaluation.
