Isomers in 203Tl and core excitations built on a five-nucleon-hole structure

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 197Au(209Bi, X)203Tl, E=1450 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγγ-coin. 203Tl; deduced levels, J, π, multipolarities, T1/2 of high-spin isomeric states, configurations. Half-lives determined by centroid-shift method for ns isomers and by variation with time of the cumulative intensity for υs isomers. Observed octupole core excitations built on a five-nucleon hole configuration. Comparison with shell-model calculations employing the KHH7B effective interaction. Gammasphere array with 100 detectors at ATLAS accelerator (ANL).

Half-lives extracted using centroid-shift and decay-curve analyses. Systematics of the 11+ isomers properties in the 216Fr, 212At, 218Ac. Comparison to the shell-model calculations. Beam from 15 UD Pelletron accelerator at Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC). Detector system - Indian National Gamma Array (INGA) with 14 Compton suppressed clover HPGe.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 197Au(209Bi, X)199Tl, E=1450 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin using Gammasphere array with 100 Compton-suppressed HPGe detectors at the ATLAS-ANL accelerator facility. 199Tl; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, alignments, signature slitting, B(M1)/B(E2), configurations, oblate deformation. 199Tl; calculated total energy surfaces in (ϵ cosγ, ϵ sinγ) plane, neutron- and proton-quasiparticle levels for oblate deformation as function of angular frequency with principal axis cranking (PAC) and tilted axis cranking (TAC) models using the ultimate cranker (UC) code.

Comparison with shell-model predictions.

COMPILATION 93Nb, 93Mo, 140Nd, 144Pm, 148Tb, 212,213Fr, 204Pb, 205,206Bi; compiled T1/2 of isomers of >1 micro-sec half-life above 7-MeV excitations across the nuclear chart. 202,203,204,205Tl, 202,203,204Pb, 206Bi, 213At, 210,211,212Rn, 209,211,212Fr; compiled B(E3) for isomer decays.
