Decay spectroscopy of two-quasiparticle K isomers in 246, 248Cm via inelastic and transfer reactions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 248Cm(209Bi, 209Bi'), 248Cm(209Bi, X)246Cm, E=1450 MeV from ATLAS-ANL accelerator facility, with bursts between 1 μs to 8 s; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, half-lives of isomers in 246Cm and 248Cm by γ(t) using Gammasphere array. 246,248Cm; deduced levels, J, π, K-isomers, two-quasineutron Nilsson configurations, reduced K hindrances, persistence of a deformed subshell gap at N=152 near Z≈100 from systematics of Kπ=8-, two-quasineutron isomeric states in N=150, Z=94-102 even-even nuclei.

Population and decay of a Kπ = 8- two-quasineutron isomer in 244Pu

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 244Pu(208Pb, 208Pb'), E=1430 MeV; 244Pu(47Ti, 47TI'), E=305 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, M1/E2 branching ratios, prompt and off-beam γ rays, half-life of a 2-qp 8- isomer using Gammasphere array at ATLAS-ANL. 244Pu; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, rotational bands, multipolarity, configurations, kinematic and dynamic moments of inertia, (gk-gR)/Q0, reduced hindrance factors for transitions from the isomer. Comparison with multi-qp calculations using Woods-Saxon potential and Lipkin-Nogami pairing. Systematics of moment of inertia plots and 8- isomers for 244Pu, 250Fm and 252No.
