Triaxiality and the nature of low-energy excitations in 76Ge

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(76Ge, 76Ge'), E=291, 304, 317 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (76Ge)γ-coin using the GRETINA array with 28 Ge crystals in one experiment at 304-MeV beam energy, and 42 Ge crystals in a second experiment at 291- and 317-MeV beam energies, both in coincidence with scattered particles detected by using the CHICO2 array of position-sensitive parallel plate avalanche counters at the ATLAS-ANL facility. 76Ge; deduced levels, Jπ, γ-ray and Coulomb excitation yields analyzed by using the semiclassical, coupled-channel, Coulomb excitation least-squares code GOSIA, constrained by certain previouly known experimental nuclear structure parameters, E2, M1, E1 and E3 matrix elements, B(E2), B(M1), B(E1) and B(E3), spectroscopic quadrupole moments for five excited states, and evidence for rigid triaxial deformation at low excitation energies in 76Ge, and magnitudes of the quadrupole invariants Q+2, and expectation values of the quadrupole asymmetry parameters cos(3γ) for the members of the ground-state and the γ bands. Comparison with configuration interaction shell-model calculations and generalized triaxial rotor model, and with previous experimental data.

Correlations between energy and γ-ray emission in 239Pu(n, f)

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 239Pu(n, f), E=2-40 MeV; measured fragments, En, In, Eγ, Iγ, (fragments)γ-coin, (fragment)n-coin, nγ-coin; deduced γ spectrum, γ multiplicity, linear relation between incident neutron energy and γ multiplicity. Comparison to fission model calculations done with CGMF, FIFRELIN and FREYA codes. Multiplicity results are compared to ENDF/B-VIII.0 data and to experimental data on 238U(n, F), 239Pu(d, F), 233Pu(d, F), 240Pu(d, F) reactions. Broad-spectrum neutron beam produced via spallation reaction of an 800 MeV proton beam on W target (Los Alamos Neutron Science Center). Chi-Nu liquid scintillator array, a hemispherical array of 54 EJ-309 (n- and γ- measurement) surrounding multifoil parallel-plate avalanche counter (PPAC) serving as target and contain ing 239Pu (fragment measurement).

Pulsed white neutron source at Weapons Neutron Research (WNR) facility of the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE). Li-glass array consisting of 22 detectors and liquid scintillator array consisting of 54 detector used for neutron detection, while PPAC used for detecting fission fragments in the frame of Chi-Nu experiment.

Experiment performed as a part of Chi-Nu project aimed to measure the PFNS of major actinides with the Weapons Neutron Research (WNR) facility at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE). The results are compared with other experimental data, CGMF calculations and selected nuclear data evaluations - ENDF/B-VIII.0, JEFF-3.3, JENDL-5.0.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 234U(n, γ), E=31, 77 eV; 236U(n, γ), E=44, 71 eV; 238U(n, γ), E=21, 36, 66, 102 eV; measured Eγ, Iγ for 1/2+ neutron-resonances using the Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments (DANCE) at Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSC); deduced total radiation widths Γγ of s-wave 1/2+ resonances using different models of photon strength function (PSF) and nuclear level-density (NLD) parametrizations, and significant contribution to Γγ from a resonance structure at Eγ=2-3 MeV, identified with the M1 scissors mode; comparison of measured and summed γ spectra with calculations using the PSF and NLD parameters obtained from the Oslo method, from renormalized Oslo results, from systematics used in the CoH3 code, and from the MGLO and CoH3 models for the E1 strength. 234,236,238U(n, γ), E=1-500 keV; calculated σ(E) and compared with previous experimental data listed in the EXFOR database, and with ENDFB/VII-1 evaluation.
