Probing isospin mixing with the giant dipole resonance in the 60Zn compound nucleus

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 32Si(28Si, X)60Zn*, E=86, 110 MeV; 32Si(30Si, X)62Zn*, E=75, 98 MeV; measured high-energy Eγ, Iγ using GALILEO array of 25 HPGe detectors and ten LaBr3(Ce) scintillators at the Tandem accelerator facility of INFN-Legnaro. 60,62Zn; deduced GDR parameters, Coulomb spreading widths, isospin mixing parameter at zero temperature and the isospin-symmetry-breaking correction for beta decay by analyzing experimental γ-spectra with statistical model calculations using a version of CASCADE code that included isospin formalism. Comparison of Coulomb spreading widths with the values for other mass regions deduced from GDR γ-decay measurements in other compound-nucleus reactions.

Search for in-band transitions in the candidate superdeformed band in 28Si

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 28Si(α, α'), E=130 MeV beam from K140 AVF cyclotron at the RCNP-Osaka; measured Eα, Iα using the Grand Raiden spectrometer, Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin using CAGRA array of 12 HPGe clover detectors and four LaBr3 detectors. 28Si; deduced levels, J, π, bands; analyzed 4+ member in search of a superdeformed (SD) band, branching ratios of γ rays from the 4+ member, and B(E2); based on comparison of experimental B(E2) values with predicted B(E2) values from antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) calculations for a set of identified states in 28Si, strongly rejected hypothesized superdeformed band in this nuclide.

Prompt and delayed γ spectroscopy of neutron-rich 94Kr and observation of a new isomer

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 238U(n, F), E=fast neutrons from 1H(7Li, 7Be)n, E=16 MeV; measured prompt and delayed Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, half-life of a new isomer in 94Kr using the ν-Ball array of 24 HPGe Clover detectors, 10 coaxial HPGe detectors, all with BGO Compton shielding, and 20 LaBr3 detectors at the ALTO facility of IPN-Orsay. 94Kr; deduced levels, J, π, isomer, B(E1), B(E2), ground-state band up to 10+, two-quasiparticle neutron state for the isomer consistent with Gogny CHFB calculations. Comparison with level schemes of 92Se and 96Sr.

Charged particle decay of hot and rotating 88Mo nuclei in fusion-evaporation reactions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 40Ca(48Ti, X)88Mo*, E=300, 450, 600 MeV; measured Fusion-evaporation (FE) and fusion-fission (FF) events, evaporation residue (ER) velocity and angular distributions, center-of-mass energy spectra for protons, α, and light-charged particles (LCP) using Garfield setup coupled to a wall of phoswich telescopes of Fiasco device at LLNL-Legnaro facility; deduced yrast line parameterization for 88Mo nuclei as a function of their angular momentum, differential cross section as function of polar angle, particle multiplicities, absolute fusion-evaporation and fusion-fission cross sections. Comparison with statistical model simulations using GEMINI++ code.

Giant dipole resonance built on hot rotating nuclei produced during evaporation of light particles from the 88Mo compound nucleus

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 40Ca(48Ti, X)88Mo*, E=300, 600 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, Eα, Iα, Ep, Ip, nuclear products, light charged particles (LCP) and light reaction fragment spectra using GARFIELD array for particles and HECTOR array for γ rays, angular distributions of the evaporation residues, time-of-flight at TANDEM+ALPI accelerator of Legnaro; deduced GDR parameters, centroid energies, widths and strengths, yields, distribution of nuclei as function of nuclear temperature, temperature distributions of the number of nuclei after the GDR emission. Comparison with statistical code GEMINI++ model calculations.
