RADIOACTIVITY 252Cf(SF); 144La(β-)[from 252Cf SF]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγ(θ) using Gammasphere array at Argonne National Laboratory. 142Ba, 144Ce; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, multipolarity, mixing ratios. 140Xe; deduced multipolarity and mixing ratios from γγ(θ) data. Comparison with large-scale shell-model calculations.

Shell-model investigation of spectroscopic properties and collectivity in the nuclei beyond 132Sn

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 134,136,138Te, 136,138,140Xe, 138,140,142Ba, 140,142,144Ce, 142,144,146Nd; calculated positive-parity yrast levels up to 6+, B(E2) for first 2+ states, E(4+)/E(2+), magnetic dipole moments of first 2+, 4+ and 6+ states, quadrupole moments of first two 2+ and first 3+ states, B(E2) for first 3+ to second 2+ states, B(E2)(first 4+ to first 2+)/B(E2)(first 2+ to 0+), β deformation parameter and γ angle of N=86 isotones. 138Te, 140Xe, 142Ba, 144Ce, 146Nd; calculated potential energy surfaces (PES) in (β, γ) plane using constrained Hartree-Fock shell-model (CHSM). Shell model calculations using the same effective interaction based on the realistic effective field theory potential N3LO. Comparison with experimental data.

Structure of low-lying states in 140Sm studied by Coulomb excitation

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 94Mo(140Sm, 140Sm'), (140Sm, 94Mo'), E=2.85 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 140Sm beam from Ta(p, X), E=1.4 GeV reaction at ISOLDE-CERN using RILIS, REXTRAP and EBIS]; measured scattered 140Sm and 94Mo particles, Eγ, Iγ, (particle)γ-coin, γ-yields using MINIBALL array for γ rays and DSSSD detectors for particle detection, γ spectra with laser on and off, γ-ray angular distributions. 140Sm; deduced E2 matrix elements, B(E2), spectroscopic quadrupole moment for the first two 2+ and the first 4+ states using coupled channel code GOSIA and normalized to γ-ray yield for first 2+ state in 94Mo target, and to known half-life for the first 2+ in 140Sm. Comparison with theoretical calculations using beyond-mean-field model with Gogny D1S interaction, shell model, interacting boson approximation (IBA), and E(5) symmetry. Calculated potential energy surface in (β, γ) plane for 140Sm. 95Mo; measured Iγ yield for 3/2+ to 5/2+ ground-state transition.
