Investigating the possible existence of hyper-heavy nuclei in a neutron-star environment

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 460U(140Ni, X), E=0.01, 1.25, 1.5 MeV/nucleon; calculated evolution of nucleonic density for central collision, time-evolution of the fussioning system in a neutron star environment. Constrained molecular dynamics (CoMD) simulations based on a two-body effective interaction with Skyrme potential. Observed new type of fusion barrier in neutron star environment (screening of Coulomb interaction) due to a “neutron wind”. Synthesis of extremely heavy and n-rich nuclei down to temperatures 108 K via fusion appears feasible with introduction of the nucleonic background of surrounding nuclei.

18O-induced single-nucleon transfer reactions on 40Ca at 15.3A MeV within a multichannel analysis

Comparison with theoretical calculations of σ(θ) distributions using distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) and coupled channel Born approximation (CCBA) frameworks, with Sao Paulo optical potentials and shell model spectroscopic amplitudes. 17O, 19F, 41Ca, 39K; deduced excitation energies from one-neutron transfer reactions. 17O, 41Ca; 19F, 39K; calculated one-neutron spectroscopic amplitudes for 18O projectile and 40Ca target overlaps using shell-model with the p-sd-mod and ZBM2-modified interactions; coupling schemes for the projectile-ejectile and target-residual systems for the one-proton and one-neutron transfer used in the optical model (OM) + DWBA and CCBA calculations.

First Measurement of the 116Cd(20Ne, 20O)116Sn Reaction at 15 A MeV

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 116Cd(20Ne, 20O)116Sn, E=15 MeV/nucleon; measured outgoing 20O ejectiles momentum by the MAGNEX spectrometer and detected by its Focal Plane Detector (FPD), other reaction products using K800 Superconducting cyclotron at INFN-LNS Catania coupled to carbon post-stripper; deduced identified 20O ejectiles. The 116Cd(20Ne, 20O)116Sn reaction has been measured for the first time; Double Charge-Exchange (DCE) measure with heavy ions successful, PID and ray-reconstruction procedures led to excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
