First Measurement of the 116Cd(20Ne, 20O)116Sn Reaction at 15 A MeV

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 116Cd(20Ne, 20O)116Sn, E=15 MeV/nucleon; measured outgoing 20O ejectiles momentum by the MAGNEX spectrometer and detected by its Focal Plane Detector (FPD), other reaction products using K800 Superconducting cyclotron at INFN-LNS Catania coupled to carbon post-stripper; deduced identified 20O ejectiles. The 116Cd(20Ne, 20O)116Sn reaction has been measured for the first time; Double Charge-Exchange (DCE) measure with heavy ions successful, PID and ray-reconstruction procedures led to excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 64Ni(18O, 16O), 66Ni, E=84 MeV; measured reaction products in angular range 30-310 (lab) at INFN-LNS in Catania, ejectiles momenta analyzed using MAGNEX spectrometer; deduced 66Ni excitation energy spectrum, σ(θ) to gs to to 1.424 state of 66Ni; calculated σ(θ) to gs to to 1.424 state; deduced that short-range pairing correlation may play important role in 2n transfer to 66Ni gs, verified predominance of 2n transfer to the first excited state of 66Ni, confirmed long-range effect of the wave function of this state. Calculations independent on the nuclear structure model.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 66Ni; calculated spectroscopic amplitudes for one- and two-neutron transfer to the first and second 0+ and 2+ states using NUSHELLX code and the model space bjuff with an effective phenomenological interaction and 48Ca as an inert core, and also using the microscopic IBM-2 method. 65Ni; calculated spectroscopic amplitudes for one-neutron transfer to the first and second 5/2-, 1/2-, 3/2- states and first 9/2+ using NUSHELLX code, and also using the microscopic IBM-2 method. 64,66Ni; calculated low-lying positive-parity 0+, 2+ and 4+ levels, and compared with experimental values. 65Ni; calculated low-lying negative-parity levels, and compared with experimental values.

Two-Neutron Excitations in light nuclei via the (18O, 16O) reaction at 84 MeV

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be, 11B, 12,13C(18O, 16O), E=84 MeV; measured 16O E(ejectile), I(ejectile, θ). 11Be, 13B, 15O deduced bound and resonance states. Broad resonance at higher energy possibly signal of a collective motion initiated by nucleon pair transfer.
