Neutron-rich rare-isotope production from projectile fission of heavy nuclei near 20 MeV/nucleon beam energy

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(238U, F), E=20 MeV/nucleon; 197Au(197Au, F), E=20 MeV/nucleon; analyzed experimental data obtained at NSCL-MSU using A1200 fragment separator; calculated isobaric yield distributions or cross sections, average Z/A versus A, mass distributions of projectile fission fragments, production cross sections and rates of accessible neutron-rich nuclides of Z=26-71 and N=26-116. Phenomenological deep-inelastic transfer model (DIT), and microscopic constrained molecular dynamics model (CoMD), with the statistical multifragmentation model (SMM) for the de-excitation or fission of the hot heavy projectile fragments. Comparison with experimental data. Relevance to r-process path and neutron dripline.

Microscopic dynamical description of proton-induced fission with the constrained molecular dynamics model

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 232Th(p, F), E=27, 63 MeV; 235U(p, F), E=30, 60 MeV; 238U(p, F), E=660 MeV; calculated fission fragment σ(E) as function of mass of the fission fragments, total fission σ(Ep), average total energy of fission fragments, and average proton and neutron multiplicities as function of proton energy during prescission, and postscission, total proton and neutron multiplicities, fission time with respect to incident proton energy, evolution of ensemble average CoMD energies of fissioning nuclei. Constrained molecular dynamics model (CoMD) using semiclassical microscopic N-body code CoMD with standard symmetry and soft symmetry potentials.
