Restoring the valence-shell stabilization in 140Nd

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(140Nd, 140Nd'), E=4.62 MeV/nucleon, [140Nd beam from Ta(p, X), E=1.4 GeV at HIE-ISOLDE-CERN, and isotopic selection by RILIS and REXEBIS]; measured Eγ, Iγ, scattered particles, (particle)γ- and (particle)γγ-coin using Miniball array and double-sided silicon strip detector (DSSD). 140Nd; deduced levels, J, π, Coulomb excitation cross sections, B(E2), B(E3), B(M1) by analyzing data using multistep Coulomb-excitation least-squares fitting code GOSIA, identification of the third 2+ state as the main fragment of the one-quadrupole-phonon proton-neutron mixed-symmetry state, and degree of F-spin mixing. Systematics of B(M1) strengths for N=80 isotones of 132Te, 134Xe, 136Ba, 138Ce and 140Nd, and compared with theoretical predictions.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(202Hg, 202Hg'), E=890 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γ(θ), γγ-coin using the Gammasphere array at ATLAS-ANL facility. 202Hg; deduced levels, J, π, multipolarities, mixing ratios, B(E1), B(E2), B(E3), B(M1), mixed-symmetry 2+ state, upper limits for the F-spin mixing matrix elements from analysis of data for 136Ba, 138Ce, 202Hg, and 204Hg. Comparison with previous experimental values in the Nuclear Data Sheets.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 196Pt(98Zr, 98Zr'), E=464 MeV from CARIBU source at ATLAS-ANL facility; measured recoils, Eγ, Iγ, (recoil)γ-coin using CHICO2 array of segmented parallel-plate avalanche counter (PPAC) for recoil detection, and GRETINA array of segmented HPGe detectors for γ detection. Coulomb excitation. 98Zr; deduced levels, upper limit of B(E2) for the first 2+ state. Comparison with shell model and Monte-Carlo shell model calculations, and with previous experimental values. Systematics of B(E2) values for the first 2+ states in 90,92,94,96,98,100,102,104,106Zr.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(12C, 10Be), E=62 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ(θ), γγ-coin, (particle)γ-coin using 11 HPGe, light reaction fragments using solar cells array. 210Po; deduced 2+1 state T1/2 using the line shape of the transition, branching ratios to this state from upper states, B(E1), B(E2), B(E3), B(M1), T1/2 of three states and transitions; calculated low-lying states energy, structure, B(E1), B(E2), B(E3), B(M1) using QPM (Quasiparticle Phonon Model). Compared with data.

Comparisons with levels and B(E2) of 210Po and 210Pb, and with theoretical calculations using shell model. Systematics of B(E2) values for the first 2+ states in 20Ne, 44Ti, 52Ti, 136Te, 212Po, nuclei with two valence protons and two valence neutrons.

Comparison with simple single-j shell model calculation. 211Po; observed γ rays. 209,210Po, 208Pb, 209Bi; reaction products measured in coincidence with γ rays.

RADIOACTIVITY 142Pm, 142,142mEu, 142Sm(EC), (β+); measured Iγ; deduced 142mEu/142Eu isomeric ratio, and M(142Eu)/M(142Sm).
