NUCLEAR REACTIONS 40Ca(40Ca, X), E=35 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products, yields of the heaviest fragments, average excitation energy vs exit channel separation energy, events for α particles and α-conjugate nuclei, excitation energy distributions, excitation functions, and projectile-like fragments in the exit channels using the NIMROD-ISiS 4π array at the K500 superconducting cyclotron of the Texas A and M University; deduced hierarchy effect, dominance of α-conjugate exit channels in a subset of events with a total α-conjugate A=40 and Z=20, source-frame-invariant velocity plots for α-like and two fragment α-like exit channels, parallel velocity distributions for α-conjugate exit channels, de-excitation of α-conjugate nuclei, and the dynamics of collisions leading to projectile-like fragment exit channels.
