Spin assignment and statistical properties of neutron resonances from 161, 163Dy(n, γ) and 167Er(n, γ) measured at the DANCE facility

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 161,163Dy, 167Er(n, γ), E=2-345 eV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γ-sum energy; deduced J, resonances parameters, average resonance spacings. Checked the ratio of spacings for the two spins formed in s-wave resonance capture against predictions of different nuclear level density models. Comparison to other experimental data, Mughabghab "Atlas of Neutron Resonances" evaluation and TALYS calculations. Highly segmented γ-ray calorimeter Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments (DANCE) consisting of 160 BaF2 crystals the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center.

Comparison with statistical model calculations.

Discussed scissors mode in odd-A Gd isotopes from summed reduced M1 strengths. Evidence of odd-even effect in strength of scissors mode.
