NUCLEAR REACTIONS 236U(n, γ), E=10 eV-800 keV; measured neutron time-of-flight spectrum, Eγ, Iγ, (n-resonance)γ-coin using the Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments (DANCE) γ-ray calorimeter at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center; deduced multistep cascade spectra and multiplicity distribution of strong resonances, average multiplicity of resonances, capture σ(E), energies, Γγ, and Γn of neutron resonances for E(n)=29.8-998.1 eV. R-matrix analysis using code SAMMY. Comparison with earlier experimental data, and with ENDF/B-VII.1 and JEFF-3.2 nuclear data libraries.

Measurement of the 97Mo(n, γ) reaction with the DANCE γ calorimeter array

Measured Eγ, Iγ, multistep gamma cascades (MSCs) with the DANCE array of 160 BaF2 detectors at the LANSCE-LANL facility. 98Mo; deduced neutron resonances, J, π, neutron widths, photon-strength functions (PSFs), simulated total radiation width of resonances for all considered model combinations. Analysis using DICEBOX statistical computer code. 93,95,99Mo, 94Nb, 100Ru; deduced photon-strength functions (PSFs) using averaged s-wave resonance spacings D0 from literature. Comparison with statistical model calculations.

Comparison with several model calculations of photon strength functions (PSF) and nuclear level densities (NLD) for deformed nuclei, and with experimental data from other reactions. Discussed scissors mode in odd-A Gd isotopes from summed reduced M1 strengths. Evidence of odd-even effect in strength of scissors mode.
