Measurement of the EMC effect in light and heavy nuclei

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 2H, 3,4He, 9Be, 12C, 63Cu, 197Au(e, e'), E=5.77 GeV; measured scattered electrons using high momentum spectrometer (HMS), a magnetic focusing spectrometer at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator facility; deduced charge symmetric background, differential σ, magnitude of isoscalar corrections, EMC (European Muon Collaboration effect) ratios; analyzed present data combined with those from SLAC and CLAS. Cross sections listed in Supplemental Material. Relevance to atomic mass A-dependence of the EMC effect of nuclear structure functions differing significantly from the sum of proton and neutron distributions.

Impact of 16O(γ, α)12C measurements on the 12C(α, γ)16O astrophysical reaction rate

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(α, γ)16O, E(cm)<3.2 MeV; analyzed available experimental data for the E1 and E2 cross sections and astrophysical S factors using a multilevel R-matrix method; deduced impact on the uncertainties for the S factors in newly proposed experiment using 16O(e, e'α)12C reaction. 16O(e, e'α)12C, E not given; analyzed and discussed role of the newly proposed OSEEA experiment, as well as new OSGA experiment using 16O(γ, α)12C reaction in improved statistics and reducing uncertainties for cross sections and astrophysical S factors for the 12C(α, γ)16O reaction at Eα=300 keV.

Measurements of the separated longitudinal structure function FL from hydrogen and deuterium targets at low Q2

Comparison with parametrizations, previous experimental data, and theoretical predictions extrapolated to the beam energies investigated.
