New measurement of the elemental fragmentation cross sections of 218 MeV/nucleon 28Si on a carbon target

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(28Si, X), E=218 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products, time-of-flight; deduced charge changing σ, elemental fragmentation σ (EFCSs) with charge changes 1-6. Comparison to the previous measurements and to the predictions from the models EPAX2, EPAX3, FRACS, ABRABLA07, NUCFRG2, and IQMD coupled with GEMINI (IQMD+GEMINI). Particle identification by means of MWPC and MUSIC detectors. Beam of 28Si produced from 9Be(40Ar, X), E=320 MeV/nucleon at Heavy Ion Research Facility (HIRFL-CSR, Lanzhou).

Accurate odd-even staggering relations for fragmentation and spallation cross sections

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(56Fe, X), E=300, 1000 MeV/nucleon; 56Fe(p, X), E=300, 1000 MeV; 9Be(58Ni, X), E=463, 650 MeV; analyzed experimental σ(E) data from GSI-Darmstadt, ITER-Moscow and IMP-Lanzhou facilities using two odd-even staggering (OES) relations in the present work; calculated fragmentation and spallation cross sections and compared with 4000 experimental cross sections measured in more than 30 different reaction systems. 9Be, Ta(40Ca, X), (48Ca, X), (58Ni, X), E=140 MeV/nucleon; 1H(56Fe, X), E=300-1500 MeV/nucleon; Pb(124Xe, X), E=1000 MeV/nucleon; calculated production σ of N-Z=-1 nuclei using odd-even staggering (OES) relations and compared with experimental production cross sections. Comparison of measured cross sections of very-neutron-rich nuclei with N-Z=19, 20, 21, 24 in fragmentation of 82Se, 70Zn and 238U beams at NSCL-MSU and RIKEN with the predictions from the novel odd-even staggering (OES) relations in the present work, benchmarked with about 4000 experimental data accurately measured in various fragmentation and spallation reactions over a wide energy range. Relevance to future discovery of exotic nuclei, with small production cross sections, near the proton and neutron drip-lines.

Isotopes produced in 9Be(238U, F), E=300, 1000 MeV/nucleon; 9Be(124Xe, X), E=600 MeV/nucleon reactions using FRS separator at GSI. Comparison with AME-2016 evaluation. Systematics of S(2n) values in N=123-136 Pb, Bi, Po, At, Rn, Fr, Ra, Ac, Th isotopes, and compared with theoretical predictions.

Comparison with calculations using BrIcc code, and with theoretical predictions. First measurement of the 96Ru(p, γ)97Rh cross section for the p process with a storage ring

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(96Ru, γ)97Rh, E=9, 10, 11 MeV/nucleon; measured particle spectra in different charge states, x-ray and γ spectra, σ(E) using stored heavy ions in storage ring ESR at GSI; deduced astrophysical S factors and stellar reaction rates over a range of T9=0.5-19. Comparison with predictions from standard NON-SMOKER code and TALYS-1.4 code using different γ-ray strength functions from HFB, Brink-Axel Lorentzian (BAL), and Kopecky-Uhl, and different density models of constant temperature (CT), BSFG, generalized superfluid (GS), and Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov (HFB). Recommended REACLIB parameters for the reactivity of 96Ru(p, γ)97Rh, and 97Rh(γ, p)96Ru reactions. Relevance to p-process network calculations.
