High spin states of the normally deformed bands of 83Y

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 58Ni(32S, 3pα)83Y, E=135 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, level half-lives and side feedings by Doppler-shift attenuation method (DSAM) using Gammasphere array with 110 HPGe detectors surrounded by BGO Compton suppressors at the LBNL cyclotron facility. 83Y; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, rotational bands, B(E2), β2 deformation parameters, transition quadrupole moments, alignments; calculated total energy surfaces. Comparison with paired and unpaired cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky-Bogoliubov (CNSB), and with cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky (CNS) calculations.

Multiple band structures in 70Ge

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 55Mn(18O, 2np), E=50 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγ(θ)(DCO) using Compton-suppressed Ge array consisting of three Clover detectors and seven single-crystal detectors at John D. Fox Superconducting Accelerator Facility at Florida State University. 70Ge; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, multipolarities, K=2 γ band, negative-parity bands, band crossings, moment of inertia plots, staggering; calculated Routhians. Comparison with shell-model calculations using extended pairing +quadrupole-quadrupole interaction with monopole interactions (EPQQM) as effective interaction. Systematics of moment of inertia and staggering for γ bands in 66,68,70,72,74,76Ge nuclei.

Comparison with previous experimental results, and large-scale shell-model calculations. Systematics of B(M1), B(E2), and energy staggering for 68,70,72,74As.

Further insights into the reaction 14Be(CH2, X)10He

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 2H(14Be, 10He), (14Be, 12He), E=59 MeV/nucleon, [14Be secondary beam from 9Be(18O, X), E=120 MeV/nucleon primary reaction using A1900 fragment separator]; measured particle spectra by ΔE-E detectors and neutron spectra by MONA array at NSCL-MSU facility; analyzed decay energy spectra and multiplicity distributions for 8He+n, 8He+2n 8He+4n, and 8He+2n with α removal. 10He; deduced resonance, no evidence for initial state effects based on the halo structure of the initial 14Be assuming a direct α-particle removal reaction. 12He; deduced no evidence for the existence of a low-lying (≤1 MeV) resonance in 12He.
