General Comments:

Data are from 153Gd(n,γ), 154Eu β- decay, 154Tb ε decay (21.5 h, 9.973 h, and 22.7 h), 150Nd(9Be,5nγ) and Sm(α,xnγ) reactions, Coulomb excitation, 156Gd(p,t), 152Gd(t,p), 154Gd(e,e’), 154Gd(d,d’), and 154Gd(p,p’) reactions.

In a study of the β- decay of 154Eu, 2004Ku13 do not confirm the existence of the following levels, previously reported in thermal-neutron capture: 1276.99; 1294.19; 1295.09; 1698.51; 1702.04; 1838.61; and 1861.55. These levels and their associated γ’s are not included here. See the comments in the 154Eu β- decay and 153Gd(n,γ) E=th data sets.

Possible 158Dy α decay (2011Be18): T1/2 |> 1.3×1016 Y established by γ spectroscopy based on 31 events for 2+ to 0+, 123.1γ in 154Gd (no peak observed)

Levels: From the compilation of 1973Mu14 there are 48 n resonances below 1~keV in 154Gd; the related measurements are given in 1974Ra23. See 1987Ma13 for data on 134 resonances from 0.48 to 2.76~keV. For a recent publication of n resonances for this, and other nuclides, see 2018MuZZ.

Levels: For the labeling used to identify the cranked shell-model configurations, see the (9Be,5nγ) data set. For a discussion of the various band crossings in the cranked shell-model, see 1989Mo20 (9Be,5nγ).

Gammas: Unplaced γ’s are not included here; see 154Tb ε decays (21.5 h, 9.973 h, and 22.7 h), 154Eu β- decay, and 152Sm(α,2nγ).

Q-value: S(2n)=15141.69 21, S(2p)=13521.32 27 (2021Wa16)

E(level): From a least-squares fit to the listed γ-ray energies with χ2{norm=2.13 greater than χ2{critical=1.15. The multiply placed gammas were not included in this fit. γ-ray energies for which no uncertainties are given were assigned an uncertainty of 1~keV.

Jπ(level): 1996SpZZ, in (n,γ), give detailed a discussion of many of the band assignments.

E(γ): Where the γ is seen in both the 154Eu β- decay and the 153Gd(n,γ) reaction, the Eγ value is generally taken from the latter study, unless noted otherwise. In other cases, the values are from a combination of all available values. 154Eu is a commonly used source for calibration of γ-ray detectors. α careful analysis and evaluation of the available Eγ data on the prominent γ’s from the Eu β- decay has been carried out by 2000He14. Where available, these data are adopted in this evaluation.

I(γ): Where the γ is seen in the 154Eu decay, the Iγ values are generally taken from those data. In other cases, they are from the combination of all available values. The uncertainties in those from the 153Gd(n,γ) study include only the statistical component. Significant differences between values from the various reactions and decays are noted.

I(γ): For some of the Iγ values from 153Gd(n,γ), which are marked as "multiply placed - intensity undivided ", the second placement is in another isotope.

M(γ): See 150Nd(9Be,5nγ) for additional multipolarity assignments, deduced by evaluator, but not adopted.
