Unexpected spin-parity assignments of the excited states in 9Be

RADIOACTIVITY 9Li(β-), (β-n)[30.5 keV 9Li beam polarized by collinear optical pumping technique]; measured Eβ, E(n) by TOF, I(n), nβ-coin, β-decay asymmetry spectrum as function of TOF at TRIUMF-ISAC facility. 9Be; deduced levels, J, π, β-delayed neutron transitions, asymmetry parameter for each β transition, Iβ, logft. Comparison with previous experimental data, and theoretical shell-model calculations. 5He, 8Be; deduced neutron branching ratios from states in 9Be through n+8Be and α+5He channels to 0+ and first 2+ states in 8Be and 3/2- state in 5He.
