Mass, Spectroscopy, and Two-Neutron Decay of 16Be

RADIOACTIVITY 16Be(2n) [from 1H(17B, 2p), E=277 MeV/nucleon]; measured decay products, En, In; deduced resonance energies, J, π, Q-value. Comparison with calculations incorporating the evolution of the wave function during the decay as a genuine three-body process reproduced the principal characteristics of the neutron-neutron energy spectra for both levels, indicating that the ground state exhibits a strong spatially compact dineutron component. The 15 cm thick liquid hydrogen target of MINOS, the BigRIPS fragment separator, the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory of the RIKEN Nishina Center.

Comparison with previous experimental results, and with theoretical predictions from quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA), based on finite range droplet model (FRDM) and the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) plus proton-neutron QRPA (pnQRPA).

Charge-changing cross sections for 42-51Ca and effect of charged-particle evaporation induced by neutron-removal reactions

Comparison to Glauber-like model calculations. Observed significant decrease of charge-exchange cross-section with increase of point-proton radius and attributed this effect to attributed to the charged-particle evaporation induced by the neutron-removal reaction. Used the conclusions of the present work to re-analyze charge-exchange σ for Be, B, C, N, O, F, Si, Ti, Ca, Fe isotopes. BigRIPS fragment separator at RI Beam Factory (RIBF).

Spectroscopy of 99Cd and 101In from β decays of 99In and 101Sn

RADIOACTIVITY 99In(EC), (β+), 101Sn(EC), (β+), (β+p)[from 9Be(124Xe, X), E=345 MeV/nucleon, followed by separation of fragments of interest using BigRIPS separator and the ZeroDegree spectrometer at RIBF-RIKEN facility]; measured β-correlated γ spectra, Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin using the WAS3ABi detector and the EURICA array; generated hypothetical βγ-coin and βγγ-coin matrices. 99Cd, 101In; deduced levels, J, π. 101Sn(β+p); analyzed intensity distributions of β-delayed proton emission branches as a function of the excitation energy; calculated partial half-lives of electromagnetic decay and proton emission. Comparison of level structure with phenomenological shell model using SR88MHJM interaction, and β+p decay with semi-empirical proton emission theory by Delion, Liotta, and Wyss 2006.

Comparison with previously available experimental half-lives, and with theoretical calculations using FRDM+QRPA, KTUY+GT2, RHB+pn-RQRPA, and DF+CQRPA models. 141Te(β-); calculated half-life and Gamow-Teller strengths using FRDM+QRPA(2019) model, and compared with experimental data. Discussed and calculated effects of new half-life data on r-process abundance.

RADIOACTIVITY 84,85,86,87Ga(β-), (β-n), (β-2n)[from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon, followed by separation and identification of fragments using the BigRIPS in-flight separator at RIBF-RIKEN facility]; measured secondary ions implanted into active stoppers made of double-sided silicon-strip detectors (DSSSDs), neutrons by BRIKEN array of 3He counters, WAS3ABi for β and ion detection, and γ rays by two clover-type HPGe detectors, (ions)βn-coin, half-lives of decays of 84,85,86,87Ga; deduced decay curves, %β-n (P1n) and %β-2n (P2n). Comparison with shell-model and QRPA calculations. Relevance to r-process modeling.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(72Ni, p'), E=271.0 MeV/nucleon; 1H(74Ni, p'), E=263.5 MeV/nucleon; 1H(76Zn, p'), E=275.5 MeV/nucleon; 1H(80Zn, p'), E=263.4 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 72,74Ni, 76,80Zn beams from 9Be(238U, X), E=345 MeV/nucleon primary reaction, followed by separation of fragments using BigRIPS separator]; measured reaction products, yields, Eγ, Iγ, particles, (particle)γ-coin, angular integrated proton inelastic scattering σ using MINOS target device, DALI2 array for γ detection and ZeroDegree spectrometer for particles at RIBF-RIKEN facility. 72,74Ni, 76,80Zn; deduced first 2+ and 4+ levels, and second 2+ levels in 72,74Ni; analyzed B(E2) values and matrix elements for the first 2+ states. Comparison with shell-model calculations, and with previous measurements. Systematics of β2 deformation parameters in 62Zn to 80Zn, and 54Ni to 74Ni isotopes. Comparison of experimental σ for inelastic scattering with calculations using Jeukenne-Lejeune-Mahaux (JLM) folding model with quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA). 58Ni(p, p), E=295, 250, 333 MeV; 58Ni(p, p'), E=178 MeV; analyzed σ(θ) data using the JLM reaction model and KD02 potential.

New isomer found in 14051Sb89: sphericity and shell evolution between N=82 and N=90

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(238U, F)140Sb, E=345 MeV/nucleon]; measured Enullg, Inullg, delayed γγ-coin, isomer half-life using EURICA 4π array, BigRIPS and ZeroDegree spectrometers at RIBF-RIKEN. 140Sb; deduced levels, J, π, multipolarity, configuration, B(M1), B(E2). 136,140Sb; compared isomeric populations. Comparison with shell model and mean Field calculations with Woods-Saxon potential. Systematics of (6-) and (7-) states; deduced evidence for evolution of πg7/2 and πd5/2 orbitals in 134,136,140Sb, and for νf7/2 orbital evolution up to N=89. Possible spin traps.
