Resolution of a possible misinterpretation of the nuclear excitation mode along the yrast line: An investigation on the evolution of rotation and vibration

Centipede-like E-GOS (E-gamma over spin) empirical approach for evolution between vibration and rotation in nuclei as a function of spin. Comparison with experimental data.

Landscape appreciation of systematic structure properties in even-even nuclei along the valley of stability

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE Z=6-100; calculated NpNn/(Np+Nn) factors for even-even nuclei, plotted E(first 4+)/E(first 2+) ratio from literature. Z=10-118; calculated ground-state equilibrium deformations β2, γ, β4, binding energies, S(2p), S(2n) for even-even nuclei along the β-stability line. Improved potential-energy-surface (PES) approach with fitted macroscopic model parameters and compared with available experimental data, and other theoretical calculations.

COMPILATION Z=2-118; compiled and plotted experimental T1/2 of ground states, S(2n) and S(2p) for 59 Z-chains; discussed observed trends and anomalous behavior.

Signature splitting of the g7/2 [404] 7/2+ bands in 131Ba and 133Ce

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 122Sn(13C, 4nγ)131Ba, E=65 MeV from XTU Tandem accelerator at LNL-Legnaro; 125Te(12C, 4nγ)133Ce, E=57 MeV from separated sector cyclotron of iThemba LABS; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγ(θ) using GALILEO array of 25 Compton-suppressed HPGe detectors, EUCLIDES silicon ball for charged particles and the Neutron Wall array for neutrons for 131Ba at Legnaro, and AFRODITE array of eight Compton-suppressed clover detectors for 133Ce at iThemba LABS. 131Ba, 133Ce; deduced high-spin levels, multipolarities, J, π, bands, quasiparticle alignments, dynamical moments of inertia, signature splittings and configurations. Comparison with cranked shell model and quasiparticle-plus-triaxial-rotor model calculations.
