Microscopic aspects of γ softness in atomic nuclei

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 104Ru; calculated levels, J, π, staggering parameter for γ-band, reduced E2 and M1 matrix elements - in-band, diagonal and interband, quadrupole shape invariants for ground state band and γ-band. Analysis show that admixtures of quasiparticle states into the collective vacuum configuration can transform the pattern of the energies and E2 matrix elements from γ-rigid to γ-soft character. Triaxial projected shell model (TPSM) approach. Comparison to data obtained in COULEX experiments and results of calculations performed in the framework of quadrupole collective Bohr Hamiltonian (QCBH) approach.
