Microscopic aspects of γ softness in atomic nuclei

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 104Ru; calculated levels, J, π, staggering parameter for γ-band, reduced E2 and M1 matrix elements - in-band, diagonal and interband, quadrupole shape invariants for ground state band and γ-band. Analysis show that admixtures of quasiparticle states into the collective vacuum configuration can transform the pattern of the energies and E2 matrix elements from γ-rigid to γ-soft character. Triaxial projected shell model (TPSM) approach. Comparison to data obtained in COULEX experiments and results of calculations performed in the framework of quadrupole collective Bohr Hamiltonian (QCBH) approach.

Comparison of spin versus angular frequency distribution and B(E2) values with tilted-axis cranked-shell model calculations based on the covariant density functional theory, and with semi-classical particle-rotor model calculations.
