Precise branching ratio measurements in 19Ne β decay and fundamental tests of the weak interaction

RADIOACTIVITY 19Ne(β+)[from C, Si(p, X), E=500 MeV at TRIUMF facility]; measured Eγ, Iγ, electron spectra, βγ-coin using the 8π γ-ray spectrometer and SCEPTAR detector array at TRIUMF-ISAC facility. 19F; deduced levels, β+-branching ratios, precise β branch for superallowed ground-state to ground-state branch, Ft values, Vud element of the CKM quark-mixing matrix. Comparison with previous experimental results. Discussed implications for testing weak interaction symmetries.

Doppler-shift attenuation lifetime measurement of the 36Ar 2+1 level

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(36Ar, 36Ar'), E=63 MeV; measured Eγ, (12C)γ-coin, half-life of the first 2+ state by Doppler-shift attenuation method (DSAM) following low-energy Coulomb excitation using TIGRESS spectrometer and PIN diode detectors at TRIUMF-ISAC facility. Carbon target backed with 197Au. 36Ar; deduced level, B(E2) for the first 2+ state, and compared with previous experimental data, and with shell-model calculations using USDB interaction.

Shape coexistence and evolution in 98Sr

RADIOACTIVITY 98Rb(β-)[from U(p, F), E=500 MeV at TRIUMF-ISAC]; measured Eγ, Iγ, I(ce), βγ-, β(ce)-, γγ-, γ(ce)- and ce(ce)-coincidences using 8π array of 20 Compton-suppressed HPGe detectors for γ rays, ten plastic scintillators for β detection, and a set of five Si(Li) detectors (PACES) for conversion electrons. 98Sr; deduced levels, absolute intensities of γ transitions, B(E0), B(E2). Comparison with two-state mixing model for interpretation of ρ2(E0) value, deduction of mixing of the two low-lying 0+ and 2+ states, and deformation parameters.

Systematics of absolute intensity of the first 2+ to 0+ transition, and direct ground-state feeding in β-delayed neutron emission in the β decays of 94,96,98,100,102Rb. Plots of Pn/T1/2 versus Qβn for decays of 94,96,98,100,102Rb, and comparison with theoretical and phenomenological descriptions. 102Zr, 102Sr, 101Zr(β-); observed γ rays.

Low energy elastic and inelastic scattering, and transfer reactions. Comparison with DWBA calculations including realistic three-body model, and shell-model calculations. Discussed higher-order effects in the reaction mechanism.
