Isotopic effects in sub-barrier fusion of Si + Si systems

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 30Si(30Si, X), E=47-90 MeV; measured fusion evaporation residues (ERs), fusion σ(E) at the XTU tandem accelerator facility of LNL-INFN-Legnaro. Comparison with previous experimental results, 28Si+28Si data, and with theoretical calculations using coupled-channels method with aM3Y+repulsion potential, and including one- and two-phonon excitations and the mutual excitations of the low-lying 2+ and 3- states in projectiles and targets.

Mass correlation between light and heavy reaction products in multinucleon transfer 197Au + 130Te collisions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 130Te(197Au, X), E=1.07 GeV; measured reaction products, energy loss, total energy, time of flight, mass distribution of Te isotopes and (Te-like)(Au-like)coin using the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer coupled to NOSE detector for coincidence measurements at LNL-Legnaro Tandem-ALPI facility; deduced total kinetic energy loss (TKEL) for 0n-, 2n-, 4n- and 6n-transfer channels, mass-mass correlation matrix of Te isotopes, and mass distributions from the projection of the corresponding mass-mass matrix for 0n to 6n transfer channels and compared with simulations, σ(total) of Te isotopes and compared with calculations using GRAZING code.

Reaction rate for carbon burning in massive stars

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(12C, p)23Na, (12C, α)20Ne, E=5.5-10 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (particle)γ-coin, σ(E) using Gammasphere array and an array of three annular double-sided silicon strip detectors at the ATLAS-ANL facility; deduced S factors and astrophysical reaction rates. Comparison with previous measurements, and with data from other reactions. Relevance to carbon burning is a critical phase for nucleosynthesis in massive stars.

Neutron-rich Nuclei Populated in Multi-nucleon Transfer Reactions: the 197Au+130Te System

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 130Te(197Au, x), E=5.5 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products using large acceptance magnetic spectrometer PRISMA for light partner close to grazing angle and MWPPAC (Multi-Wire Parallel Plate Avalanche Counter) followed by BC (Bragg Chamber) for coincidence and timing; deduced ΔE-E matrix, binary partners masses, Q, Bragg peak matrix vs energy released in BC.

Barrier distributions and signatures of transfer channels in the 40Ca + 58, 64Ni fusion reactions at energies around and below the Coulomb barrier

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 58,64Ni(40Ca, X), E=104.75-153.5 MeV; measured particle spectra, fusion-evaporation residue (ER) spectra, fusion σ(E), angular distributions; deduced fusion barrier distributions B(D), couplings to nucleon transfer channels; investigated influence of the projectile and target nuclear structures on the fusion cross sections near or below the Coulomb barrier. Coupled-channels analysis with the CCFULL code using the AW nuclear potential. Comparison with results from fusion experiments on 40Ca+40Ca, 48Ca+48Ca, 40Ca+48Ca, 58Ni+58Ni, 64Ni+64Ni, and 58Ni+64Ni reactions.
