Measurement of the 80Se (γ, n) reaction with linearly polarized γ rays

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 80Se(polarized γ, n), E=15.6, 15.8, 16.0 MeV; measured E(n), I(n), neutron time-of-flight, differential σ(E, θ), total σ, linear polarization using liquid-scintillation detectors for neutron detection at HIGS-TUNL facility; deduced reaction matrix elements; data analyzed using (γ, n) reaction angular correlation formalism. 79Se; deduced nuclear level density, GDR, nuclear level density model that fits the data best. Comparison with statistical model calculations using Hauser-Feshbach formalism, and with previous experimental values. Relevance to time reversed 79Se(n, γ) reaction, and s-process formation of 82Kr.

RADIOACTIVITY 76Ga(β-)[from 76Ge(n, p), E=6.2-21 MeV]; measured Eγ, Iγ, cross section with a focus on the intensity of the 2040.7-keV γ ray, relevant to the measurements of 76Ge 0νββ decay by GERDA Collaboration. Also discussed experimental results of 76Ge(n, n'γ) reaction by the Kentucky group.

Relevance to interpreting measured 125Xe/123Xe intensity ratio at NIF-LLNL in laser shots on 124Xe loaded DT capsules.
