First Observation of Cyclotron Radiation from MeV-Scale e± following Nuclear β Decay

RADIOACTIVITY 6He(β-), 19Ne(β+) [7Li(d, 3He), E=17.8 MeV; 19F(p, n), E=12 MeV]; measured decay products, Eβ, Iβ; deduced β spectra, first direct observation of cyclotron radiation from individual highly relativistic β in a waveguide. The cyclotron radiation emission spectroscopy (CRES) technique, FN-tandem accelerator at the University of Washington.

Measurement of the neutron decay electron-antineutrino angular correlation by the aCORN experiment

RADIOACTIVITY 1n(β-); measured E(β-), E(p), asymmetry in proton time-of-flight for (proton)(β-)-delayed coincidence events, and the (electron)(antineutrino)(θ) using aCORN method at the high-flux cold neutron beam on the new NG-C neutron guide end position at the NIST Center for Neutron Research; deduced 'a' coefficient of electron-antineutrino correlation, and the ratio of weak coupling constant λ=GA/GV. Comparison with previous experimental results since 1978, and with the PDG evaluation.
