Role of neutron transfer in the sub-barrier fusion cross section in 18O + 116Sn

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 116Sn(18O, X), E(cm)=44.6-74.3 MeV; measured evaporation residues, time of flight of evaporation residue, fusion σ(E) using the Heavy-Ion Reaction Analyzer (HIRA) array at the 15 UD Pelletron of IUAC-New Delhi; deduced fusion barrier distributions; examined the effects of positive Q-value neutron transfer (PQNT) channels on sub-barrier fusion. Comparisons with coupled-channels calculations using the CCFULL code, including 2+ and 3- excited states of 116Sn, and 2+ excited state of 18O; analyzed systematics of reduced fusion excitation functions of 112,116Sn, 112Cd(16O, X) and 116Sn, 148Nd, 92Mo, 74Ge(18O, X) reactions at sub-barrier energies.

Search for stabilizing effects of the Z=82 shell closure against fission

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 180Hf(19F, X)199Tl*,181Ta(19F, X)200Pb*,182W(19F, X)201Bi*, E=4.2-6.3 MeV/nucleon; measured charged-particle spectra, time-of-flight (TOF), ΔE versus TOF plots, evaporation residue (ER) σ(E) using the Heavy Ion Reaction Analyzer (HIRA) at IUAC-New Delhi accelerator facility; calculated capture σ(E) and ER σ(E) using coupled-channels formalism and statistical model, respectively. Comparison between measurements and calculations; deduced no enhanced stabilizing effects of the Z=82 shell closure against fission in the compound nucleus.
