Lifetimes in 211At and their implications for the nuclear structure above 208Pb

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(6Li, 3n), E=34 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, half-lives of 13/2-, 17/2- and 23/2- levels in 211At by γγ-coin fast timing technique using HPGe detectors and LaBr3(Ce) scintillators for γ-rays at the Institute for Nuclear Physics, University of Cologne. 211At; deduced levels, B(M1), B(E2). Comparison with shell model calculations, and previous experimental values.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 209Bi, 210Po, 211At; calculated B(E2), magnetic dipole moments, B(M1) using two shell-model calculations: semiempirical interaction for three particles in a single j=9/2 shell, and the modified Kuo-Herling interaction in a multi-j model space. Comparison with experimental values.

Systematics of excitation energies of yrast states, E(first 4+)/E(first 2+) ratios, and B(E2) for first 2+ and 4+ states in A=172-204 Hg isotopes.

Evolution of collectivity in the N=100 isotones near 170Yb

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 168Er(α, 2n), E=27 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, level half-lives by γγ(t) using electronic γ-γ fast-timing technique using HPGe detectors and LaBr3(Ce) detectors at Cologne 10 MV FN-Tandem accelerator. 170Yb; deduced levels, yrast band, B(E2). Comparison with confined beta soft (CBS) model calculations, X(5) predictions, and with previous experimental results. Systematics of ground state band energies and B(E2) in N=100 isotones of 168Er, 170Yb, 172Hf, 174W and 176Os.

Comparison with previous results, and with theoretical model calculations.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 168,170,172,174,176,178,180Hf; calculated contour plots of the deformation energy surfaces in (β, γ) plane for 168Hf to 176Hf, parameters for the IBM Hamiltonian, levels, J, π, moments of inertia and B(E2) for levels in the ground-state rotational band. Interacting boson model with Hamiltonian from Gogny HFB calculations using the D1M interaction. Comparison with experimental data.
