New approach to determining radiative capture reaction rates at astrophysical energies

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 16O(e, e'α)12C, E=114 MeV; calculated reaction rate and angular distribution of differential cross section to determine the 12C(α, γ)16O radiative capture reaction with significantly improved precision. 12C(α, γ)16O, E(cm)=0.7-1.7 MeV; compiled experimental data for astrophysical SE1 and SE2 factors, and different fits to the data, including R-matrix fit; analyzed data by reconstruction of astrophysical SE1 and SE2 factors with statistical error bars based on calculations in this work at E(e)=114 MeV and θ(e)=15°. Discussed the formalism to relate photo- and electrodisintegration reactions in order to design an optimal experiment. Relevance to radiative capture reactions in nucleosynthesis.
