Full disassembly of excited 24Mg into six α particles

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(12C, 6α), E=95 MeV; measured Eα, Iα, and α-α relative energy, energy distribution of (24Mg)* distribution for original and reconstructed six-α particle events, angular distribution of α particles using the GARFIELD detector and Ring Counter annular detector for α detection at LNL-Legnaro; deduced important contributions of decay channels, sequential decay with three bodies (α, 8Be/8Be*,12C*) followed by de-excitation in α-particles. Comparison with Hauser-Feshbach predictions including known levels of light nuclei and 8Be* (3 MeV) evaporation.

Experimental study of precisely selected evaporation chains in the decay of excited 25Mg

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 13C(12C, X)25Mg*, E=95 MeV; measured reaction products, Ep, Ip, Eα, Iα, p(θ), α(θ), charge distribution, mass and kinetic energy distributions for protons and α particles in coincidence with Z=6-10 evaporation residues (ER) using GARFIELD and RingCounter array at LNL-Legnaro for particle detection; deduced branching ratio for various decay chains from excited 25Mg, mass distribution of evaporation residues from Q-value distribution, neutron emission order in the O+α+α+n decay chain exploiting Jacobi coordinates. Comparison with statistical model simulation based on Hauser-Feshbach theory, using HFL and GEMINI++ codes, and with 12C(12C, X)24Mg*, E=95 MeV system.
