RADIOACTIVITY 81Ge(β-)[from 232Th(p, X), E=35 MeV at the IGISOL facility of University of Jyvaskyla, followed by mass and charge separation using double Penning-trap mass spectrometer JYFLTRAP and ToF-ICR]; measured quadrupole excitation frequency, T1/2 of 81Ge g.s. decay by growth and decay timing, Eγ, Iγ, βγ-coin, γγ-coin. 81As; deduced levels, J, π, β feedings, logft, B(GT), doorway configurations. 81Ge; deduced T1/2 of only the g.s. as the known isomer in 81Ge not populated. Comparison of experimental 81As levels structure with shell-model calculations using JJ44B or JUN45 interactions, and with previous experimental results. Systematics of low-lying states in 71,73,75,77,79,81,83As; and those of the first and second 9/2+ states in 71,73,75,77,79,81,83As, 73,75,77,79,81,83,85Br, and 75,77,79,81,83,85,87,89Rb.

GALILEO γ-array consisting of 25 Compton suppressed HPGe and 8 BGO crystals served as the anti-Compton shield of each HPGe at XTU Tandem accelerator (INFN Legnaro National Laboratory).

Evidence for spherical-oblate shape coexistence in 87Tc

Probing isospin mixing with the giant dipole resonance in the 60Zn compound nucleus

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 32Si(28Si, X)60Zn*, E=86, 110 MeV; 32Si(30Si, X)62Zn*, E=75, 98 MeV; measured high-energy Eγ, Iγ using GALILEO array of 25 HPGe detectors and ten LaBr3(Ce) scintillators at the Tandem accelerator facility of INFN-Legnaro. 60,62Zn; deduced GDR parameters, Coulomb spreading widths, isospin mixing parameter at zero temperature and the isospin-symmetry-breaking correction for beta decay by analyzing experimental γ-spectra with statistical model calculations using a version of CASCADE code that included isospin formalism. Comparison of Coulomb spreading widths with the values for other mass regions deduced from GDR γ-decay measurements in other compound-nucleus reactions.

Comparison with coupled channels calculations using the CCFULL code and Woods Saxon (WS) internuclear potential, and with systematics of energy threshold of hindrance for other medium-light systems: 12C+12C, 12C+16O, 16O+16O, 12C+30Si, 24Mg+30Si, 28Si+30Si, 16O+76Ge, and 27Al+45Sc. Discussed astrophysical significance of reactions in the carbon and oxygen burning stages of heavy stars.

Shape coexistence in neutron-deficient 188Hg investigated via lifetime measurements

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 158Gd(34S, 4n), E=165 MeV; 160Gd(34S, 6n), E=185 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, level half-lives by recoil-distance Doppler-shift (RDDS) method using the GALILEO γ-ray spectrometer, Neutron Wall array, and GALILEO plunger device at the INFN-LNL facility. 188Hg; deduced levels, J, π, B(E2), transition quadrupole moments, β2, shape coexistence, and deformations for normal and intruder configurations. Comparison with two-band mixing model with beyond-mean-field approaches, and with previous experimental results for level lifetimes. Systematics of levels in yrast bands in N=96-114 even-even mercury isotopes, and those of mean-square charge radii for N=96-114 even-even Hg, Pb and Po isotopes.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 180,182,184,186,188Hg; calculated levels, J, π, rotational bands built on the first two 0+ states using the two-band mixing model, potential energy surfaces (PES) in (β2, γ) plane, single-proton and neutron energies as function of the deformation β2. Two state-of-the-art beyond mean-field calculations using the symmetry-conserving configuration-mixing (SCCM) approach for axial shapes and the five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian (5DCH).

Comparison with coupled channels calculations using CCFULL code, and with data for 64Ni+64Ni and 40Ca+96Zr systems. Discussed impact of inelastic and transfer channels on fusion, and conclude that no hindrance effect observed, effectively counterbalancing the Pauli repulsion.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 88Sr(14C, 2n), E=40, 46 MeV; measured Eγ, half-lives of 2+, 4+, 6+ and 8+ yrast levels by recoil-distance Doppler shift (RDDS) and Doppler-shift attenuation method (DSAM) using ORGAM array and eight detectors from Miniball array at 15 MV Tandem accelerator of the ALTO laboratory in Orsay. 100Ru; deduced levels, B(E2), not the best candidate for E(5) symmetry. Comparison with excited Vampir, shell-model calculations, and theoretical E(5) level scheme.

RADIOACTIVITY 82Ge(β-)[from 238U(e, F), E=50 MeV followed by online mass separation using PARRNe mass separator at ALTO ISOL facility of IPN-Orsay]; measured Eγ, Iγ, βγ-, γγ-coin, half-life of 82Ge isotope using BEDO detector assembly. 82As; deduced levels, J, three potential 1+ states, π, β feedings, logft. Comparison with experimental and theoretical values of two 1+ states in 82As and 80Ga. Comparison with empirical core-particle coupling model and fully microscopic treatment within Skyrme-QRPA (quasiparticle random-phase approximation) approach. Discussed Gamow-Teller fragmentation due to tensor correlations and couplings to 2p-2h excitations. 82Ga(β-); measured half-life from growth-decay curve for 1348-keV γ ray, and compared with earlier experimental value. 81,82,82mAs, 81,81mGe, 82Ga, 130,132Sb, 132Sn(β-), 82Ga(β-n); observed γ rays from fission fragments present in the sample.

Transition probabilities in neutron-rich 84, 86Se

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 238U(82Se, 84Se), (82Se, 86Se), E=577 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (84Se)γ- and (86Se)γ-coin, level half-lives by recoil-distance Doppler shift (RDDS) method using Cologne Plunger device, PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and AGATA demonstrator array at INFN-Legnaro accelerator facility. 84,86Se; deduced levels, B(E2) for transitions from first 2+, 4+ and 6+ states. Comparison with large-scale shell model calculations using several different effective interactions.

Barrier distributions and signatures of transfer channels in the 40Ca + 58, 64Ni fusion reactions at energies around and below the Coulomb barrier

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 58,64Ni(40Ca, X), E=104.75-153.5 MeV; measured particle spectra, fusion-evaporation residue (ER) spectra, fusion σ(E), angular distributions; deduced fusion barrier distributions B(D), couplings to nucleon transfer channels; investigated influence of the projectile and target nuclear structures on the fusion cross sections near or below the Coulomb barrier. Coupled-channels analysis with the CCFULL code using the AW nuclear potential. Comparison with results from fusion experiments on 40Ca+40Ca, 48Ca+48Ca, 40Ca+48Ca, 58Ni+58Ni, 64Ni+64Ni, and 58Ni+64Ni reactions.
