Polarization asymmetries in the 9Be (γ, n0)reaction

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(polarized γ, n), E=5.5-15.5 MeV from High Intensity γ-ray Source (HIγS) at Duke University and TUNL; measure neutron spectra, time-of-flight spectrum, neutron yields parallel and perpendicular to the plane of beam polarization, polarization asymmetries using nearly 100% linearly polarized and monoenergetic γ-ray beam. Comparison with direct capture calculations using only E1 contributions. Relevance to new method of assaying special nuclear materials (SNM).
