Investigating the time dependence of neutron-proton equilibration using molecular dynamics simulations

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 70Zn(70Zn, X), E=35 MeV/nucleon; analyzed experimental yields from 2017RO09 (Phys. Rev. C 95, 044604) and and 2017JE01 (Phys. Rev. Lett. 118, 062501); deduced yields charge distributions and mass distribution for heavy and light fragments, fragments velocity distribution, angular distributions, neutron-to-proton ratio in the fragments. Simulations using Constrained Molecular Dynamics (COMD) and Antisymmetrized Molecular Dynamics (AMD) codes, which simulate the collision dynamics by solving time-dependent wave functions. GEMINI code used for de-excitation process.

Apparent temperatures of neutron-poor and neutron-rich compound nuclei

Comparison to previous measurements and GEMINI++ calculations. QTS (quadrupole-triplet spectrometer) coupled to FAUST array of 68 Si-CsI(Tl)/PD telescopes at Texas AM University Cyclotron Institute.

Proton and neutron exchange as a prelude to fusion at near-barrier energies

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 39,41,45,47K(28Si, X), 36,44Ar(28Si, X), E(cm)=34-46 MeV; measured reaction products, evaporation residues; deduced fusion excitation functions, fusion σ(E), potential energy surfaces for binary fragments. Comparison to Dirac-Hartree-Bogoliubov (DHB) calculations for the ground state densities used in Sao Paulo fusion model. Radioactive beams of K and Ar ions were produced by the coupled cyclotron facility at MSU-NSCL and thermalized in a linear gas stopper before being reaccelerated by the ReA3 linac.

Impact of shell structure on the fusion of neutron-rich mid-mass nuclei

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 16O(39K, X), (41K, X), (45K, X), (47K, X), (36Ar, X), (44Ar, X), E(cm)=23-33 MeV, [secondary radioactive 45,47K, 44Ar beams from 9Be(48Ca, X), E=140 MeV/nucleon, followed by separation of ions using A1900 at NSCL-MSU facility]; measured reaction products, fusion σ(E); deduced reduced fusion excitation functions; investigated influence of shell effects on fusion of mid-mass nuclei. Comparison of experimental fusion cross sections with Sao Paulo model using Dirac-Hartree-Bogoliubov (DHB) densities, and densities from systematics; deduced over prediction of fusion experimental σ for closed-shell nuclei using DHB densities. 39,41,45,47K, 36,44Ar; predicted DHB density distributions of protons and neutrons. Relevance to importance of understanding shell effects at the saddle point for accurate description of fusion process.

Isoscaling and nuclear reaction dynamics

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 70Zn(70Zn, X), 64Zn(64Zn, X), E=35 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products were measured using the Neutron Ion Multidetector for Reaction Oriented Dynamics (NIMROD), yields and angular distributions of fragments (Z=4 to 8, Z=12 and Z>12) at the K500 Cyclotron facility of Texas A and M University; deduced isoscaling parameters α and β as a function of breakup angle in binary excited projectile-like fragment decays. Comparison with statistical model calculations.

Correlation between time and angular alignment in molecular dynamics simulations of heavy ion collisions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 70Zn(70Zn, X), E=35, 45 MeV/nucleon; analyzed yield of events as a function of impact parameter, angular alignment distributions, ratio of yields from the flipped peak to the dynamic peak as a function of the charge asymmetry of projectile-like fragments (PLF*) breakup, and angular alignment versus time using event tree method of analyzing molecular dynamics simulations, with constrained molecular dynamics (CoMD) model for accurate distributions of fragment masses and velocities.
