E(level): From 185Hg ε decay, except for levels populated by (HI,xnγ) only.

Jπ(level): Spin and parity arguments are based on the energy systematics of rotational bands in 185Au, 187Au, and 189Au (1988Ko22), supplemented by γ-ray multipolarities and decay patterns, and γ(θ) and γγ(θ) measured in (HI,xnγ) reactions. Specific arguments based on γ-ray multipolarities are given with individual levels. 185Au belongs to a transitional region where oblate and prolate nuclear shapes coexist. Measurements of the hyperfine structure and isotope shift of 185Au confirm its large (β≈0.25) g.s. prolate deformation (1989Wa11).
