Abstract

The nucleus Au185 was populated using the reaction Tb159(Si,304n)Au185 at 140MeV beam energy. Lifetimes for the E2 transitions in h92 and i132 bands have been measured using recoil distance method. The reduced transition probabilities B(E2) and transitional quadrupole moments Qt were extracted using the measured lifetimes. Calculations of quasiparticle Routhians and total Routhian surfaces (TRS) have been performed to investigate the effect of the β- as well as the γ-driving properties of these configurations in this nucleus.
