Deep-inelastic electron-deuteron scattering with spectator nucleon tagging at the future Electron Ion Collider: Extracting free nucleon structure

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 2H(e, e'), E=20-100 GeV; calculated reduced cross sections of deuteron deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) with proton and neutron tagging as function of their momenta, comparison of the event-by-event and event-averaged approaches to pole removal in proton and neutron tagging, inverse pole factor in proton tagging, pole extrapolation and free nucleon reduced cross section extraction in spectator tagging, free neutron and proton reduced cross sections extracted with pole extrapolation, nucleon structure extraction with spectator tagging. 2H; calculated deuteron spectral function and its nucleon pole contribution. BeAGLE Monte Carlo generator method for extraction of free nucleon structure, with the spectator neutron and proton momenta reconstructed including effects of detector acceptance and resolution. Relevance to future Electron Ion Collider (EIC) measurements using far-forward detectors.

Multidimensionally constrained relativistic mean-field model, with DD-ME2-Y1, DD-ME2-Y2, DD-ME2-Y3, PKDD-Y1, PKDD-Y2, and PKDD-Y3 effective nucleon-nucleon interactions. Comparison with available experimental data.
