Comparison with previous experimental data, and with shell-model calculations.

Strongly resonating bosons in hot nuclei

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 64,70Zn(70Zn, X), (64Zn, X), 64Zn, 64Ni(64Zn, X), (64Ni, X), E=35 MeV/nucleon; analyzed experimental data from 4π NIMROD array at K150 cyclotron facility of Texas A and M University; deduced relative kinetic energy distribution of 2α events, excitation-energy distributions of 12C from 3α events, and 3Li from 3p events, probability ratios of direct-decay of 12C states into 3α particles of equal energies (DDE), and into a linear-decay (LD), probability ratios of decay of Hoyle state (HS) when 8Be g.s. energy is consistent with two α relative kinetic energies, or when the second largest energy is twice that of the 8Be g.s. energy. 8Be, 12C; discussed energy levels in hot nuclear matter, excitation of 12C states through multiresonance processes, and decay of 12C Hoyle state through 8Be.

Identification of the new isotope 224Np

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 187Re(40Ar, 3n)224Np, E=188 MeV; measured evaporation residues (ERs), Eα, Iα of decaying ERs, production σ using SHANS separator and a double-sided silicon strip detector for α detection at SFC-HIRFL, Lanzhou; deduced evidence for the production of new isotope 224Np through the observation of six correlated α-decay chains, starting from 224Np to 212Fr.

RADIOACTIVITY 224Np, 220Pa, 220mPa, 216Ac(α)[from 187Re(40Ar, 3n)224Np, E=188 MeV, and successive α decays]; measured Eα, Iα, half-lives, αα-correlations. 220Pa, 216Ac, 212Fr; deduced levels, isomer in 220Pa.

Comparison with Continuum-discretized coupled-Channels (CDCC) calculations.

Comparison with previous experimental results, and with β transitions in 20O mirror nucleus.
