Established the excitation of pre-equilibrium GDR or the so-called dynamical dipole mode (DD) in a heavy system for a large range of impact parameters. Comparison to statistical model predictions. MEDEA BaF2 array and PPAC detectors at superconducting Cyclotron (INFN-LNS, Catania).

Dynamical dipole (DD) excitation or preequilibrium giant dipole resonance. 189Hg; deduced GDR resonances, GDR widths. Comparison with Boltzmann-Nordheim-Vlasov (BNV) transport model calculations. Implications for the search of superheavy-element.
