Fast-neutron-induced fission of 240Pu and 242Pu

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 240,242Pu(n, F), E=1-100 MeV; measured reaction products, fission fragments, time-of-flight, En, event-by-event analysis of fission fragment energy, (fragment)n-coin; deduced pre- and postneutron total kinetic energy, neutron multiplicity, mass yield distribution, width of the fission fragment mass distribution, ratio of the distance between charge centers at scission and that of spherical touching nuclei. Comparison to the predictions of the GEF model, the CGMF model, and the model of Denisov and Sedykh and to the previous experimental results. "White" spectrum neutrons from 15R beamline at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center at the Weapons Neutron Research (LANSCE-WNR, LANL).

Comparison with theoretical predictions of GRAZING-F, dinuclear systems (DNS), and improved quantum molecular dynamics (ImQMD) models, and with previous experimental results from MNT reactions: 248Cm(16O, X), (86Kr, X), (129Xe, X), (132Xe, X), (136Xe, X), 197Au(238U, X), 238U(18O, X), (238U, X), 208Pb(18O, X), (64Ni, X), (136Xe, X), 198Pt(136Xe, X). No evidence for production of nuclei near the N=126 shell.

Total kinetic energy release in the fast-neutron-induced fission of 237Np

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 237Np(n, F), E=2.6-100 MeV; measured fission fragments, time of flight of each interacting neutron using two arrays of nine Si PIN photodiodes at the LANSCE-WNR facility; deduced mass yield distributions, post- and pre-neutron emission total kinetic energy (TKEs), σ(E), product mass TKE distributions as function of neutron energy, dependence of asymmetric TKE events on neutron energy. Comparison with predictions of GEF (GEneral description of Fission observables) model.
