Total absorption spectroscopy of the β decay of 76Ga

RADIOACTIVITY 76Ga(β-)[from 9Be(76Ge32+, X), E=130 MeV/nucleon and separated by A1900 fragment separator at NSCL-MSU]; measured Eγ, Iγ, total absorption gamma-ray (TAS) spectrum using a segmented NaI(Tl)(SuN) detector, Eβ, Iβ by a silicon surface barrier, βγ-coin, half-life of 76Ga decay; deduced Iβ feedings and compared to the evaluated data in the ENSDF database, β strength functions and B(GT). Comparison with shell-model calculations using jj44b and JUN45 interactions. Relevance to studies of neutrinoless double β-decay of 76Ge.

Charge radii of neutron-deficient 36K and 37K

ATOMIC PHYSICS 36,37K; measured hyperfine spectra using optical pumping and subsequent β-decay asymmetry detection at the BECOLA facility at NSCL-MSU facility; deduced atomic rate equations from resonance spectra, mean-square charge radii with reference to 39K. 36,37K radioactive beams produced in the fragmentation of 140 MeV/nucleon 40Ca ions with Be target, and separated by using A1900 fragment separator at NSCL-MSU. Comparison with Skyrme EDF and shell-model calculations, and with measured values of other K isotopes. Discussed absence of shell-closure at N=20 in the K isotopic chain due to a balance between the monopole and the quadrupole proton-core polarizations.
