On the quadrupole collectivity in the yrast band of 168Yb

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 154Sm(18O, 4n), E=80 MeV;124Sn(48Ca, 4n), E=189 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, RDDS (Recoil distance Doppler-shift) spectra using five large volume Ge (Sm target) and 21 escape-suppressed HPGe (Sn target). 168Yb deduced T1/2, B(E2) of levels using lifetime analysis with differential decay curve method (one B(E2) deduced using published T1/2), yrast band quadrupole moments; calculated B(E2) vs spin. Yrast band moments of inertia and B(E2) compared with published values for 164,166,168,170Yb; deduced indication for reduced collectivity at low spin unexplained by available calculations.
