NUCLEAR REACTIONS 136Xe(n, n'), (n, 3n), (n, 5n), E=0.7-100 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, σ(E) using the GErmanium Array for Neutron Induced Excitations (GEANIE) for γ detection at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) Weapons Neutron Research (WNR) facility. 136Xe; deduced levels. Novel calibration method proposed for double-beta decay detectors by observing prompt γ rays form (n, n'). Comparison with other experimental values, and with TALYS simulations.

Measurement of neutron capture on 136Xe

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 136Xe(n, γ), E=0.01 eV to 1 MeV; measured prompt Eγ, Iγ, multistep cascade (MSC) spectra using DANCE Los Alamos Neutron Science Center; deduced relative and absolute cross sections, neutron resonance at 2.154 keV, capture cascade γ-ray emission intensities by DICEBOX simulations. Comparison of measured cross section with previous experimental results, and with evaluated data in ENDF-B/VII.1 and JENDL-4.0. Relevance to experiments on 136Xe 0νββ decay and presence of 137Xe contaminant in such experiments.
