Search for 2νββ decay of 136Xe to the 0+1 excited state of 136Ba with the EXO-200 liquid xenon detector

RADIOACTIVITY 136Xe(2β-); measured energy spectra using EXO-200 detector at Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico; deduced lower limit of half-life for 2νββ decay mode to the first excited 0+ state in 136Ba from a binned maximum-likelihood (ML) fit and a machine learning algorithm. Comparison with experimental results from KamLAND-Zen.
