Comprehensive study of radon progeny attachment to surfaces

RADIOACTIVITY 222Rn, 218,214,210Po(α); measured Eα, Iα; analyzed radon concentrations, attachment rates of airborne 222Rn radioprogeny collection on surfaces of several materials: copper, Hamamatsu silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), high density polyethylene (HDPE), carbon fiber composite, sapphire, nickel, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), metallized silica, and fused silica; deduced dominant attachment by 218Po; discussed impact of environmental conditions on the attachment. GEANT4 simulations for all the samples. Comparison of data to attachment modeling, using the Jacobi model. Relevance to next-generati on experiments on neutrinoless double β decay, dark matter, and solar neutrinos for achieving unprecedented low backgrounds.

Search for 2β decay of 106Cd with an enriched 106Cd with an enriched 106CdWo4 crystal scintillator in coincidence with four HPGe detectors

RADIOACTIVITY 106Cd(2β+), (2EC), (β+EC); measured Eγ, Iγ, βγ-coin, using 106CdWO4 crystal scintillator and four HPGe detectors at the INFN's Gran Sasso underground laboratory; deduced lower limits of half-lives for 2ϵ, 2β+, ϵβ+, 2K, LK, KL1 and Kl3 decay channels of the 2νββ and 0νββ decay modes to the ground and excited states of 106Pd. Comparison to the previous experimental results.

Random coincidence of 2ν2β decay events as a background source in bolometric 0ν2β decay experiments
