NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁵⁶Gd(γ, γ), E=7.1 MeV[bremsstrahlung end-point energy]; measured Eγ, Iγ using three HPGe with BGO active anti-Compton shield; deduced γ-ray energy spectra; ¹⁵⁶Gd(polarized γ, γ), E=2.9-6.2 MeV[linearly polarized quasi-monochromatical photon beams from laser Compton backscattering]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin at High Intensity γ-ray Source (HIγS) at TUNL; deduced γ-ray measured and deconvoluted energy spectra, asymmetries for observed single states and average asymmetry for each beam energy setting using deconvoluted spectra, expectation B(E1), B(M1) transition values; deduced, extracted photo absorption σ_γ vs E^* and its decomposition to the gs and to the first excited state.
