Reliability of the double-folding potential for fusion cross sections of light systems

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹²C, ¹⁶O, ²⁴Mg, ²⁸Si(¹²C, X), ¹⁶O(¹⁶O, X), ²⁴Mg, ²⁸Si(²⁴Mg, X), ²⁸Si(²⁸Si, X), E not given; calculated barrier height, position, and fusion barrier energies using Akyuz-Winther (A-W), M3Y double-folding (DFM), and α-α double-folding cluster (DFC) potentials. ¹²C(¹²C, X), E=2-8 MeV; ¹⁶O(¹⁶O, X), E=6-15 MeV; ¹²C(¹⁶O, X), E=3-13 MeV; calculated σ(E) and modified astrophysical S(E) factor using A-W, DFM and DFC potentials, thermonuclear reaction rates for T₉=0.5-3.0. Comparison with experimental data.
